HARMONIX™ MUSIC ACADEMY
Harmonix™ music course has only one thing in mind: to prepare you for the music industry. There are hundreds of music schools out there that help you to become a good musician, but there aren't many out there who not only help you to become an excellent musician, but also help you to pursue your talent and skill within the South African music industry. We help you to make music a career.
This full-time 3 year music course, is designed to help you achieve your goal: pursuing a career in music.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Students require a valid Grade 12 certificate or NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Students will also be required to audition in their specific field of interest.
- The stipulated deposit and registration fees have to be paid and up to date as required and stipulated by Pneumatix.
COURSE OUTLINE
This music course revolves around three key components,
a) Education, b) Exposure and c) Enterprise.
Each of the above mentioned components integrates into one another to form a comprehensive approach to studying music, as well as to understanding music in the context of industry / business in South Africa.

3 Years.
LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION
As pointed out earlier, accreditation can only be obtained by completing exams for the actual musical component of the course, i.e. Grades 1 – 8 as per musical instrument through Rockschool via Trinity Guildhall UK.
As for the other subjects, accreditation is pending, however it theoretically engages the student on a NQF Level 5 to 6.
Thus the student will receive a certificate issued by Pneumatix on completion of the course, as well as obtain recognition for the musical exams completed.
EQUIPMENT YOU NEED
The student needs to have the following for this course:
- Own musical instrument
- If studying piano, a keyboard will suffice. Please note that keyboards should hava a line-out function as well as a sustain pedal input. Own sustain pedal necessary, as well as own keyboard stand. The student should also have a proper carry-bag for his/her instrument.
- Drumming students need not bring their own drum kits, as these are provided, they will however be respnsible for having and maintaining their own drum sticks. If the student so wishes, he/she can bring their own snare drum at their own risk.
- Guitar/Bass students' guitars should be in a suitable protective casing. They are also expected to maintain their own instruments regarding strings, plectrums etc. Guitar/Bass students should also have their own amplification device for their particular instrument – this need not be top-of-the-range, but should assist the student with personal rehearsing and practicing.
- Vocal students should have their own mics, mic cables, and protective casing for mic. No radio mics – only hand-held corded microphones.
- All students are expected to have their own instrument cables for their particular instruments
- Each student should have a laptop with internet capabilities. Internet will be provided on our campus and is included in the study fee.
COURSE INCLUDES
This course includes all textbooks and sheet music.
